A Lyceum Premiere! Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written for the film, along with new songs by Alan Menken and Tim Rice. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. This “tale as old as time” is spectacular fun for the entire family. MUSICAL RATED G
A Lyceum Favorite! Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration perfectly celebrates America’s pioneering spirit just after the turn of the century. Set in a Western Indian Territory on the verge of becoming a new state, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road.
