Kimberly Doreen Burns
Kimberly is making her Arrow Rock debut and is so thrilled to be playing Alice Murphy for a 3rd time! She is an award-winning singer, actor, performer, and educator who originated the role of Maya in the New York City premiere of Sideways (based on the Academy Award-winning film). She’s performed at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Signature Theatre, Irish Repertory Theatre, Lucille Lortel Theatre, and she sang at the Irish Repertory Theatre’s 30th Anniversary Gala honoring former President Bill Clinton. Kimberly was also a soloist at the Sondheim at Seven Gala honoring the legendary composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim and was seen on NBC’s hit TV show “The Blacklist.” Outside of New York City, Kimberly has performed in national tours, internationally in Japan and Taiwan with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, worked for Disney as a lead singer, and has been fortunate enough to play some of the musical theatre’s most celebrated leading roles. Favorite credits include the Irish Rep’s revival of Finian’s Rainbow (Outer Critics Circle Nomination), Mother in Ragtime, Our Town (directed by Hunter Foster), Alice Murphy in Bright Star, Georgie in The Full Monty, Dot in Sunday in the Park with George, Guinevere in Camelot, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady – four times (Broadway World Award), Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, Cathy in The Last 5 Years, and Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie (SALT Award). Other various credits include Sandy in the national tour of Grease starring Frankie Avalon, recording the first-ever English version of “Sparkle” from Disney’s Magic Castle (Disney Records), and touring 40 cities across Japan and Taiwan in the Disney concert Disney on Classic. Kimberly has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College and her MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University. She runs her own private voice, acting, and musical theatre studio – KDB Studio – and works as an Associate Coach for The College Audition.
