Richard E. Harris

Richard E. Harris is a seasoned actor, musician and producer based in the Midwest, with roots in Fort Worth, Texas. This winter, he starred as Eddie in “Coconut Cake” at The St. Louis Black Rep, part of the International Black Theatre Festival’s Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin Rolling Premiere Award. This June, he will appear as Leonato in “Much Ado About Nothing” with Greenhouse Theatre in Columbia, Missouri. His acclaimed stage work includes “Fences,” “Three Penny Opera,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and productions at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre, including “Elvis the Musical” and “A Christmas Carol.” A former recording artist and longtime collaborator with Motown’s Vassal Benford and songwriter Diane Warren, Richard is also a skilled sound designer and engineer. He studied music at Howard University and recording technology at Cedar Valley College. Richard is the grandson of activist Dr. Opal Lee and carries her legacy into every role he inhabits.
